This short film has been living rent free in my head for over 10 years. I have now managed to complete the plot and the subtext to the story and looking to shoot it later in 2026 with some great talent that I have worked with over the past few years.

Stephen Whitford is a dynamic baritone who excels in comic roles and contemporary music. He is an Opera Prelude Young Artist, and was a Britten-Pears Young Artist. He was a prize-winner in the Hurn Court Singer of the Year, Patricia Routledge Prize and Courtney Kenny Award, and a finalist or semi-finalist in the Wigmore Hall/Bollinger International Song Competition.

This new drama takes us on a fast-paced roller-coaster journey through Puccini’s life, with his unashamedly romantic and dramatic music, reflecting the emotions he both experienced and provoked.
All the arias and duets will be sung in Italian with English surtitles and all dialogue spoken in English, with piano accompaniment and percussion.

A short film of the Audio Visual content used for the staged opera production of Tosca this year at Clonter, intercut with live stage footage to carry the visual narrative.
Tosca is a story of passion, power and betrayal, where love burns brightly but is ultimately consumed by treachery and sacrifice, set against the political turmoil of Rome. Tosca is a full blooded drama where we witness the opera singer Floria Tosca attempting to save the life of her lover, the artist Mario Cavaradossi, from the ruthless and sadistic Baron Scarpia.
